Vogue Verdict | April 2010

Monday morning saw my April 2010 issue of British Vogue promptly fly through my letterbox - on time and a very pink start to an usually blitzing cold March. No surprises to see Kate Moss graced on the cover in a fabolous chandelier dress by Prada and a silk body suit by Agent Provacateur. Great stuff, no? So as the story goes, I flick to the More Dash Than Cash spread and this time a frown painted my face. Bold, electro-pop prints deemed too abrasive for my sight, and the funk-punky stylings left me thoroughly disappointed. So far, so good bad. Thank goodness for the breathtaking editorials though, starring models Freja Beha Erichsen, Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Guinevere van Seenus. I applaud the sytlist for each editorial, especially the genius who teamed a Mark Fast body-con skirt and Nike high-tops in the Go Figure spread - glorious, glorious, glorious. Elsewhere, actress Gwyneth Paltrow chats to larger than life Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh in an interview titled The Goddess of Small Things and the charmante French actress Clémence Poésy tells us "Life's way too beautiful and fascinating to spend time on fashion rules." in Strike A Pose on pg 192. However it was the quintessentially French, artistic director of Maison Michel (and head of accessories and jewellery at Chanel; JEALOUS) Laetitia Crahay's mini-interview on page 71 that was the highlight of my Vogue reading. I can't even begin to describe the lashings of envy that engulfed me as her Chanel saturated Parisian apartment was intrinsically communicated to me via the glossy pages. Don't worry, that will be me very soon, sashaying in a luxury Paris apartment, tripping over Chanel 2.55 bags in sky-high Louis Vuitton heels. On y vera, bien sûr.
